Bulgaria is prepared to permit the emigration of any of its 6,000 Jews who desire to leave for Israel, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Naitcheff told Gershon Avner, when the latter presented his credentials as Charge d’ Affaires at Israel’s legation in Sofia, it was revealed here last night.
The Foreign Minister told Mr. Avner that Bulgaria would like to see its Jews remain and help in the reconstruction and development of the country, but it would help and permit Jewish immigration to Israel. Most of the Jews in the country now live in Sofia.
