The Bulgarian Government today issued an order entrusting the Central Jewish Consistory in Sofia with the protection of the rights to property abandoned by Jews who fled from, Bulgaria during the pro-Nazi regime.
The Consistory has been administering about fifty buildings of Jews who left Bulgaria during the war. Today’s order brings many other Jewish properties under the management of this central Jewish body. Leaders of the Jewish community are now authorized to issue a call to Jewish refugees from Bulgaria to immediately contact the Jewish Consistory to regain possession of their properties.
Three members of the Jewish Consistory were appointed today as delegates to the conference of the World Jewish Congress which opens this month in London. The three are: Jacques Nathan, Isaac Frances and Sabetay Farchi; the latter is a member of the Zionist Laborite Party.
