Chaim Farchi, president of the Bulgarian Jewish communities, was elected to fill the vacancy in Parliament created by the recent death of A. Liaptcheff, leader of the Centre party of the Democratic entente which was founded in 1923. Rabbi Asher Hananel administered the oath to the new leader.
The party which is made up of a large number of small political groups, has for its main planks a program of economy, educational reform, peace and good relations with neighbor nations.
