Miss Helene Mayer, German-Jewish Olympic fencing star, today admitted for the first time to a Jewish Telegraphic Agency correspondent that she has received a letter from Dr. Theodor Lewald, chairman of the German Olympic Committee, inviting her to try out for the German Olympic team.
She refused, however, to tell what her answer would be. Miss Mayer is a language teacher at the Mills College, Oakland, Calif.
