Religious Affairs Minister Yosef Burg was discharged from Shaare Zedek Hospital yesterday, fully recovered, his doctors said, after undergoing intestinal surgery. Burg, 74, veteran leader of the National Religious Party, said he intended to return to work as soon as possible and hoped to attend the regular Cabinet meeting Sunday.
Dr. Alexander Schneider, chief of surgery at Shaare Zedek, told reporters Burg was fully restored to good health and that he recovered from his operation as quickly as a 20 or 30 year-old patient would.
Another public figure released from hospital this week is Knesset member Shulamit Aloni, leader of the Civil Rights Movement (CRM),who suffered a mild heart attack after playing tennis two weeks ago. Aloni, 55, is convalescing at her home in Kfar Shemaryahu. She said she would soon return to work–and to the tennis courts.
