The homes of six Jewish families in the village of Zegilovka, Volhynia, were set fire to and completely destroyed by peasants of the township, according to reports of the Lemberg papers. The peasants seeking to justify themselves contended that the Jews had informed the Soviet administration that the peasants were disloyal.
A Soviet punitive expedition, following the firing of the homes was dispatched to the village and the homes of a number of the peasants were burned in punishment for their action, the papers allege.
