A bust of the late Dr. Chaim Weizmann, first President of Israel, will be unveiled in the center of a prominent plaza of this city next March, it was announced last night by Guanabara State Minister of Education Carlos Fleka Ribeiro.
The announcement was made during a formal Government reception held here in honor of Israel’s new Ambassador to Brazil, Joseph Nahamias, who arrived last week to assume his diplomatic post, and Brazil’s newly designated Ambassador to Israel, Aluisio Regis Bitencourt. The latter left for Israel today.
Mr. Ribeiro, who said that the bust of the late Dr. Weizmann has been commissioned, is president of Brazil-Israel, an organization devoted to the further tightening of cultural relations between the two countries.
