David S. Andron, counsel to the Federation of Kosher Butchers, Friday was preparing a plan for conciliation between the Kashruth Association and the Federation on the question of poultry market supervision.
Pending submission of the plan, which will be completed this week, to the Kashruth Association, a mass meeting called for Sunday to proclaim a city-wide butchers’ strike in protest against the Kashruth Association practice of tagging chickens was indefinitely postponed.
The butchers, previously opposed to the Kashruth Association decided to attempt a rapproc###ent after a conference with Judg ###tto A. Rosalsky, the Mayor’s p###y mediator, last Thursday at the Hotel Pennsylvania.
Mr. Andron said the plan which he would draw up would provide that the Kashruth Association be recognized as final authority in religious matters while economic questions would be placed in the hands of a body of laymen.
Charles Cohen, president of the Federation of Kosher Butchers, and five others connected with the Federation are scheduled to be tried in Queens Special Sessions Court, Jamaica, Monday in connection with an alleged butcher racket charged by Bernard Bienstock, assistant attorney general attached to the Anti-Racket Bureau.
The other four defendants are: Philip Kipnis, David Schatz, Harry Bender and Hyman Zaidman, all of whom live in Rockaway. The five are charged with violation of the Donnelly Act.
