By a unanimous vote, Councillor Sol. Harris of Bloemfontein has been elected Mayor of Bloemfontein in the Orange Free State. Mr. Harris is a well-known communal worker, and an Orthodox Jew. He is one of the leading citizens of Bloemfontein, having devoted many years to municipal endeavor. His sister will act as Mayoress during his duration of office.
Councillor Harris’s election has given much gratification to the Jewish community in the Orange Free State.
