A memorial lecture in honor of Herbert R. Abeles has been established by the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, it was announced today by Irving Kane, president. Mr. Abeles, who died November 1, 1960, at the age of 62, was president of the Council from 1955 through 1959.
The “Herbert R. Abeles Memorial Address” will be delivered by an outstanding national figure at a major session of the Council’s General Assembly. The address will deal with problems which are national in scope and of basic concern to the Jewish communities of the United States and Canada. It will be printed and distributed to organizations, community leaders, libraries and schools. The memorial address will utilize the bequest made by Mr. Abeles to the Council.
