The President’s Cabinet Committee on Palestine, represented by Henry F. Grady, Goldthwaite H. Dorr and Herbert E. Gaston, alternates to the Secretaries of State, War and Treasury, will fly to London from Washington Wednesday night, accompanied by a staff of political, military, economic and engineering advisers, for discussions with British officials looking toward implementation of the Anglo-American inquiry committee’s report, the State Department announced late today.
The staff consists of Paul L. Hanna, political adviser; Raymond F. Mikesell and Henry E. Villard, economic and financial advisers; Lieutenant Colonel F.W. Coleman, III, military adviser; Geoffrey W. Lewis, transportation adviser; Pred V. Loud, displaced persons adviser and C.A. Hathaway, engineering adviser. Leslie L. Rood will act as secretary-general of the mission. He served in the same capacity for the American section of the inquiry committee. Mr. Hanna also served on the inquiry committee.
Mr. Lewis, until recently a lieutenant colonel, was chief of the economic section of the Civil Affairs Division of the War Department, and in civilian life was an assistant dean of Harvard University. He recently returned from London where he was a member of the American technical body which conducted preliminary discussions with the British on Palestine.
Mr. Gaston, a former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, was only today named by Secretary of the Treasurer John Snyder as his alternate on the Cabinet Committee.
