A DEATH THREAT CABLED FROM NEW YORK TO TWO AMERICAN ZIONIST LEADERS HERE LED TODAY TO A REQUEST FOR AN INVESTIGATION BY THE UNITED STATES CONSUL.

JACOB FISHMAN, EDITOR OF THE JEWISH MORNING JOURNAL OF NEW YORK, ASKED THE CONSUL TO LOOK INTO A CABLE IN HEBREW ADDRESSED TO THE PRESIDIUM OF THE WORLD ZIONIST CONGRESS WHICH SAID:

“LIPSKY, FISHMAN SENTENCED DEATH.”

LOUIS LIPSKY, ALSO OF NEW YORK, IS A MEMBER OF THE ZIONIST EXECUTIVE. BOTH HE AND MR. FISHMAN SUPPORTED THE CONGRESS RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT ON ITS PROPOSED ESTABLISHMENT OF A JEWISH STATE IN PALESTINE.

THE OPINION WAS EXPRESSED AMONG ZIONISTS HERE THAT THE CABLE WAS SENT BY A CRANK.
