All cafes and restaurants staged a 24-hour strike today throughout the country, in protest against the introduction by the Ministry of Supplies of meat coupons for meals served in public places.
The Ministry said the strike was not justified and would not influence its action, which was designed to assure larger meat rations for the public, beginning next month.
All rail traffic in Israel was at a standstill today in a demand for improved working conditions and higher wages for skilled and unskilled men.
