Two candidates are in line to succeed to the post of Chief Rabbi of the Egyptian Jewish community, vacated by Rabbi Haim Nahum, who died this week in Cairo, the Cairo Radio reported today. The broadcast listed the candidates as Rabbi Haim Douek, secretary of the Egyptian Chief Rabbinate, who was Rabbi Nahum’s assistant, and Rabbi Shmuel Ozer, chairman of the Cairo synagogue.
