High praise for the work of the Jewish Committee for Personal Service was expressed by speakers here at the sessions of the California Conference of Social Work. Earle E. Jensen, state director of public institutions, said “no other religious group in California equals the work you Jews do in our state hospitals and prisons,” while Mrs. Anna L. Saylor, director of the state department of social welfare praised the Jewish Committee by saying “the new mental hygiene survey in California, one of the state’s most scientific undertakings, is the direct outcome of the Jewish Committee’s educational program.”
At the annual meeting of the Jewish Committee, Rabbi Rudolph I. Coffee of Oakland, was elected president for the seventh term, Rabbi Edgar F. Magnin of Los Angeles, was elected vice-president, Albert Elkus of San Francisco, treasurer and Samuel G. Holcenberg of San Francisco, executive director.
