A resolution saluting the State of Israel for its past accomplishments and wishing its people success in their further efforts has been approved unanimously by the California Legislature. The resolution was jointly sponsored by 63 Assemblymen, members of California’s lower house.
At the same time, a number of Assemblymen also announced that they had joined in sending a letter to Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, urging that Israel be permitted to purchase defensive arms in the United States. The letter, which expressed alarm over the situation in the Middle East, also urged the State Department to guarantee Israel’s territorial integrity, assist in the resettlement and rehabilitation of Arab refugees and seek an equitable solution to the Israel-Arab dispute.
