The Jewish Agency for Palestine, which is expected to unite, all element of Jewry for the rebuilding of Palestine, for the promotion of which Dr. Chaim Weizmann, President of the World Zionist Organization, is now visiting this country seems to be on the thresh-old of becoming an accomplished ##. The first important step towards its realization has been taken by a group of the most influential Jewish leaders of this country who have issued a joint call to outstanding American Jewish personalities to meet in conference for the purpose of considering this question.
The call which sets February 17 as the date of the conference, is signed by a committee headed by Louis Marshall and including Colonel Herbert Lehman, the well-known baker, philanthropist and Chairman of the Reconstruction Committee of the Joint Distribution Committee; Dr. Cynas Adler, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the American Jewish Committee and Acting President of the Jewish Theological Seminary; and Judge Horace Stern of Philadelphia, President of the Philadelphia Federation of Charities.
In addition to the question of the Jewish Agency, the conference will consider the question of the formation of a large investment corporation for Palestine.
The announcement was given out by Emanuel Neumann who at the request of Mr. Marshall and Dr. Weizmann is acting as secretary to Mr. Marshall and is responsible for the conference arrangements. The issuing of this call comes as the culmination of a series of meetings which have occurred during the past six weeks between Dr. Chaim Weizmann, Dr. Arthur Rupp in and the leaders of American Jewry.
