The Jewish community and the Hebrew press received warmly the Royal Air Force’s call for Palestinian volunteers. According to the newspaper Haarets, the Jewish Agency is wholeheartedly supporting the plan and is advising candidates to rush to volunteer.
Palestine-born males or citizens of Allied countries residing in Palestine who are 18 to 45 years old were yesterday officially invited to volunteer for service with the Royal Air Force or other branches of the British fighting forces. The volunteers will be subject to service wherever Britain is engaged in war, but will be used chiefly in the Mediterranean area, it was stated.
