Campaigns in Jersey City, with a $75,000 quota, Paterson, $75,000, Lakewood, $12,000, Perth Amboy $30,000, and Camden will be launched in the near future, the statement declares. In Connecticut, Stamford launched its second year’s drive for $18,000. In Maine, Portland has $4,800 raised on a $10,000 quota at the start of the month.
Among the last drives under way in New York State, Portchester has raised $10,000 of its $15,000, of which $1,500 has come from the Women’s Division. Elmira has raised the first year’s instalment of its $25,000 quota. White Plains will launch its campaign for $15,000 on Feb. 20.
In the Middle West, Illinois is making a renewed rally for the finish of its $500,000 quota. Moline and Rock Island, which are joined with Davenport, Iowa, in a tri-city campaign, and had already raised the first year’s instalment of their $30,000 quota, have undertaken to complete their entire allocation this year, and announced more than $15,000 raised on the $20,000 balance at the end of January. E. P. Adler of Davenport is chairman of the tri-city drive. In Michigan, the Grand Rapids campaign for $21,000 has thus far reached $17,000.
In the South, which still holds the lead in the number of states “over the top” in the United Jewish Campaign drive, a number of cities in Florida are now preparing to launch their second year efforts for the United Jewish Campaign. Miami will launch its campaign Feb. 20, Daytona Feb. 17, West Palna Beach Feb. 18, and Key West Feb. 23. Tennessee is within $12,000 of its $125,000 quota. West Virginia. likewise has come very nearly in sight of its goal of $100,000, with the recent report of $15,000 raised in Huntington. Of this. nearly $12,000 was raised at the drive opening, which was addressed by former Governor II. l). Hatfield. The first contribution was from Huntington’s former Mayor, C. W. Campbell.
In Winnipeg, organization of the drive was anticipated with advance pledges from thirty-one individuals totalling $5,355. A. M. Shinbane, Winnipeg chairman, has reported $10,000 raised.
Every community in the province of Quebec has oversubscribed its quota, the headquarters announce. Montreal. with a quota of $100,000. raised $143,500. and the Western Canadian communities subscribed more than $30,000, the announcement declares.
