Canada to Limit Immigrants from Israel to Close Relatives

The only immigrants who will be allowed to enter Canada from Israel under a proposed new immigration law will be close relatives of Canadian residents and “cases of exceptional merit.”

A similar bar will exist for most European and Near East countries under the law, which was presented to Parliament by the government. However, certain exceptions will be made, as follows: “Holland, farm workers and some artisans selected under an agreement with the Netherlands Government; Germany, Austria, Greece and Finland, farmers, domestics, nurses and nurses’ aides.
