A national conference on Jewish education, the first to be held in the Dominion of Canada, will meet during the week of Succoth in the middle of October.
The conference was called under the auspices of the Zionist Organization of Canada as a result of a resolution adopted at the last convention of the organization held recently in Winnipeg. All institutions interested in Jewish education and in the instruction of Hebrew were invited to participate in the conference.
According to the plans of the sponsors, a permanent educational council, national in scope, is to be formed in Canada. The task of this council would be to stimulate Hebrew education in every community throughout the Dominion. The council is also to attempt to solve the financial problems of those agencies devoted to the work of Hebrew education. Plans will also be considered for evolving a standard curriculum for the various types of Talmud Torahs and Hebrew schools.
