A former Foreign Minister of Canada and present government leader in the Canadian Senate said today that he thought President Nixon “definitely has created the climate for peace negotiations both in Southeast Asia and in the Eastern Mediterranean area.” But, he warned, the achievement of Middle East peace depended entirely upon Arab leaders who must decide to find a political accommodation with Israel. Paul Martin commented on the Mideast in an exclusive interview with M. J. Nurenberger, editor of the Canadian Jewish News. Mr. Martin returned from Israel where he represented Canada at the funeral of the late Premier Levi Eshkol.
