The Canadian Government was urged today by the United Zionist Council of Canada to “make a constructive contribution towards bringing peace to the Middle East” by voting in favor of Israel’s application for membership in the United Nations.

In a wire to Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent, Samuel J. Zacks, president of the Council, asserted that Canada should no longer delay extension of recognition to Israel, especially in view of the Canadian U.N. delegation’s recommendations asking international recognition for the Jewish state.
