The Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University launched a drive here today to set up a University Chair in honor of Justice E.M. Rand member of the Supreme Court of Canada and former member of the U.N. Special Committee on Palestine, it was announced by Allan Bronfman, president of the Canadian Friends.
Mr. Bronfman pointed out that the Jewish community of Ottawa has already pledged $5,000 toward the fund and urged other Jewish communities in the Dominion to follow suit. “It is to be hoped,” he stated, “that the leadership given by Ottawa will be taken up by other Canadian Jewish communities resulting in arrangements being made for the establishment of a Chair in the Law Faculty of the Hebrew University.”
