Canada’s rapidly expanding navy has received a new sub chaser as the gift of Samuel Bronfman, president of the Canadian Jewish Congress, and J. Simard, president of Marine Industries, Ltd., it was announced here today.
The vessel is 110 feet long and will carry a crew of twenty-six. The presentation ceremonies took place at Dorval with Mrs. Samuel Bronfman turning the ship over to the Canadian Navy on behalf of her husband and Mr. Simard. Among the prominent Canadian officials present were Minister of National Defense for Naval Services, Angus L. MacDonald, and Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Percy W. Nelles.
