One million dollars have been spent by the Canadian Jewish Congress for overseas relief in the past three years, it was disclosed today in a report submitted to the sixth plenary session of the Congress which opened last night. Three-hundred delegates from all parts of the country are participating.

A survey of Congress activities by Saul Hayes, its executive director, also reveals that 2,000 Jewish refugees have been established in Canada in the three-year period covered by the report. Mr. Hayes also disclosed that 16,000 Canadian Jews are now in the armed forces. The executive director’s report was distributed to the delegates in lieu of verbal reports so as to enable a maximum amount of delegate participation during the four-day session which ends on Tuesday, it was stated by Samuel Bronfman, national president of the Congress.
