Canadian Jewish Congress Secures Government Permission to Bring 250 Dp’s from Europe

The Canadian Jewish Congress has secured permission from the Federal Government to bring 250 D.P. dressmakers from Sweden and from refugee camps in Austria, Germany and Italy, it was announced here today. The first group of 50 are expected within a few weeks.

The Dress Manufacturers’ Guild of Montreal and Toronto is cooperating with the Congress in this project by ensuring employment for those who will come to Canada. Pledges of employment for several hundred dressmakers have already been made.
