A maritime training school in Israel to be located at Dor, 11 miles south of Haifa, will be known as Canada Center. Announcement to this effect was made here by Mendel Ladsky, national director of the Israel Maritime League in Canada which is helping to establish the institution for the training of officers and seamen.
It is proposed to have the Canada Center open for training work by the end of 1960, with a clinic, a meteorological station and recreation facilities, in full operation. Hitherto all of Israel’s merchant navy officers and engineers have come from the Israel Nautical College south of Acre.
