The first national conference to discuss post-war plans of Canadian Jewry was held here today under the auspices of the social and economic research bureau of the Canadian Jewish Congress. A general plan was formulated for the rehabilitation of the over 11,000 Jewish servicemen and for the solution of a number of world Jewish problems, including Jewish immigration into Canada.
The “festering sore” of anti-Semitism which is spreading across Canada was given close attention at today’s session of the national public relations committee, which consists of representatives of the Canadian Jewish Congress and B’nai B’rith.
The race riots in Plage Laval and the anti-Semitic campaign that is being waged against the building of a synagogue in the city of Quebec were specific instances mentioned. A committee was appointed to study ways and means of combatting the spread of anti-Semitism.
