Canadian Jews Pick Congress Delegates

December 31 will witness the local elections for delegates to the Canadian Jewish Congress which will convene in Toronto during the month of January.

In accordance with the regulations adopted, every recognized Jewish organization in Greater Montreal having not less than twenty-five members will have a right to send two electors, who will participate in behalf of their respective organizations in the election of delegates.

The Canadian Jewish Congress, the Dominion organization of all Canadian Jewry, has the following aims and objects:

(1) To safeguard the civil, political, economic and religious rights of Jews;

(2) To devote its attention to the inner problems arising out of abnormal and unsound conditions in the cultural, economic and social life of the Jews, and to seek a rational and constructive solution of these problems;

(3) To further the development of the Jewish National Home.

(4) To assist in the organization of World Jewry through a world Jewish Assembly to be convened on a democratic basis as soon as possible to deal with the problem facing Jewish life and to strive for the coordination of all bodies to that end;

(5) To take the initiative and to act in all matters and emergencies concerning Jewish problems;

(6) To combat manifestations of anti-Semitism in Quebec and Western Canada.
