This city, the capital of Canada, will witness this week-end a festive testimonial celebration tendered Mrs. A. J. Freiman as national president of the Hadassah Organization of Canada.
She will be honored on the occasion of her fiftieth birthday anniversary, by a dinner at the fashionable Chateau Laurier Sunday evening. More than 1,000 leaders of Canadian Jewry are expected to attend.
Mrs. Freiman’s charitable endeavors and capable direction of Hadassah has gained the admiration and respect of all Canada.
A feature of the celebration, which will continue through Monday, will be the presentation of $50,000 fund by Hadassah to Mrs. Freiman for the furtherance of Canadian Hadassah’s work in Palestine. Every chapter in the country has contributed to this fund and hundreds of Jewish children have also given their pennies toward it.
At the Sunday night event, Mrs. Freiman, Canada’s beloved “Malcha in Israel,” will be presented with a beautiful parchment book, bound in Palestinian olivewood, containing the signature of every Hadassah member from British Columbia to Nova Scotia and all Jewish children who also contributed to the birthday fund.
