The Canadian Jewish Congress and United Zionist Council have asked all Jewish organizations to disassociate themselves from all activities for welcoming Menachem Beigin, the Herut leader who is scheduled to visit Montreal and Toronto.
In a telegram released over the signatures of Samuel Bronfman, national president of the Canadian Jewish Congress, and Edward E. Gelber, president of the United Zionist Council of Canada, it was emphasized that “sponsorship of views such as advocated by Menachem Beigin is destructive of the unity of Canadian Jewry and contrary to our loyalty and patriotism as Canadian Jews and to our devotion to the true interests of Israel.”
