Mayor Leonard C. Jones, Jr., of Moncton, N.B.–a city in the Maritime Provinces of Canada–led 15 other persons in walking out of a “seminar” he characterized as anti-Semitic, and sent telegrams to leaders of the Dominion Government as well as to top officials of the New Brunswick provincial government, calling for an investigation of the so-called Christian Action Movement and its publications.
The incident occurred when three leaders of the Christian Action Movement opened the first of a series of three scheduled meetings here. After Mayor Jones and the 15 others walked out, the “seminars” were canceled. According to Mayor Jones, the movement distributes anti-Semitic articles. Two of the movement’s leaders, Eric A. Butler and Ron Gostick, also distribute the notorious anti-Semitic canard, “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, ” Mayor Jones said.
