Lester B. Pearson, Canada’s Minister for External Affairs, expressed the view today that the Arab-Israel situation has not grown worse since the beginning of the year.
Reviewing Canadian foreign policy in Commons, Mr. Pearson said he thought that Israel-Arab border incidents were likely to continue to occur. He praised the “patient and very efficient” work done by Canadian Maj. Gen. E.L.M. Burns, United Nations truce chief. He also expressed Canada’s preference for international control of the Suez Canal through the United Nations.
