The estimates of the Immigration Department of the Canadian Government will shortly be discussed in Parliament at Ottawa and a recurrence of the prolonged discussion of last session is in view.
While the discussions of last session did not touch openly on Jewish immigration in particular, it is felt that the results of this parliamentary debate will have some bearing on the future status of Jewish immigration into the country. The feeling in some circles is that the proportion of continental to British immigration is too high. The immigration statistics show, however, a slight increase in the proportion of British to continental immigration. This is not regarded as sufficiently satisfactory and that aspect of the problem is to be given special prominence in the forthcoming discussion.
