Robert Thompson, leader of the Canadian Social Credit Party, was sharply criticized by the Toronto Globe and Mail today for his qualified disassociation from the Christian Action Movement, while lauding the leaders of the anti-Semitic group.
While declaring that he was not associated with the movement, Mr. Thompson is on record as having praised the Christian Action leaders as upstanding persons whose values were “most important to the preservation of democracy.”
In an editorial today, the Globe and Mail pointed out that the so -called “loyal and democratic individuals” who are responsible for the Christian Action Movement included Ron Gostick, whose publication, “The Canadian Intelligence Service,” has been described by the Canadian Jewish Congress as anti-Semitic; and other right-wingers. In a similar editorial, the Toronto Telegram pointed out that the Christian Action leaders distribute such anti-Semitic canards as the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”
