A strong appeal for racial and religious tolerance was contained in Premier King’s address at the opening of the Dominion-Provincial Conference to discuss reconstruction plans for Canada.
Citing Canada’s wartime achievements Premier King said: “To be worthy, above all, of the sacrifice of human life, let us resolve to work together to make Canada a land of ever widening opportunities for all our people, regardless of origin, of class or of religion, the best land on earth in which to work and live.
“May we use that freedom gained to win the victories of peace; victories over distance, over climate, over nature; victories over depression, over unemployment, ever insecurity and over want; victories over prejudice, over intole rance, and over disunity,” the Premier added.
