President H. Ian Macdonald and Dean Sydney Eisen of York University in Toronto, returned recently from Israel where they signed a formal agreement with the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The agreement provides for continuation of the year abroad program, funded programs for Jewish studies, and exchange of students and faculty between the two universities.
The signing of the agreement took place last month in the office of President Avraham Harman of the Hebrew University. Both University presidents stressed the importance of continuing the close relationship between the two institutions, expressed hopes for further student exchanges, and a bringing together of scholars. Areas where the two universities could relate, including graduate and undergraduate studies, professional schools and the liberal arts, were discussed.
