Local Zionist youth groups today held a protest demonstration and rally against the White Paper which will close the doors of Palestine to Jewish immigration after March 31, 1944.
Participants in the demonstration included members of the Young Judaea, Zionist Labor Youth Habonim, Hashomer Hazair, Hashomer Hadati, as well as many Jewish pupils of the local secondary schools. The protest rally was sponsored by the local Zionist Youth Council.
A Canadian Christian Council on Palestine has been formed here by leading representatives of Angleican, Baptist, United Churches and other denominations after a meeting in which 60 prominent clergymen participated, it was announced today.
The purpose of the Council is to advocate removal of barriers keeping the Jewish people from entering Palestine and to counter discrimination against the Jewish people. A Canada-wide organization of clergy is planned.
