The Central Shekolim and Election Board has decided that the election of the Canadian delegates to the World Zionist Congress is to take place on Monday, June 10 throughout the Dominion. In order to facilitate the voting in the three largest cities, Montreal, Toronto and Winnipeg, an advance poll date was decided upon for those communities. The elections there will be held on June 9 and 10. However, no ballots will be counted until the evening of June 10. The board also set May 15 as the final date for the return of Shekolim and Shekolim money to the Montreal headquarters of the Canadian Zionist Organization. Only those shekel holders whose fees have been remitted by May 15 will have the right to participate in the election.

The number of delegates to which Canada will be entitled at the Congress will be based upon the total number of Shekolim sold and remitted for in the period of September 17, 1933 to May 15, 1935.

DENIES THERE IS SPLIT IN SHEKEL SYSTEM HERE

There is no split in the Shekel system in America, it was declared here yesterday by Samuel M. Schmidt, secretary of the Central Shekel and Election Board of America.

The statement was made in connection with appeals issued by Mizrachi and other Zionist groups, urging the Jews of America to buy specific party Shekolim.

Mr. Schmidt pointed out that there is but one Shekel system which gives the holder of each Shekel the privilege of voting for any group of delegates to the Zionist Congress that he may wish. According to the regulations adopted by the Shekel board, the ballot is secret and direct. Each Shekel holder, “upon presenting a paid Shekel, is entitled to vote for whichever list of delegates he chooses, Mr. Schmidt explained.
