Solomon Weizman, 52, and Ninette Moreno, both of Montreal, who were among the hostages in a hijacked Air France airliner which landed at Entebbe where Israeli forces staged a dramatic rescue in July 1976, filed lawsuits last week in Quebec Superior Court, suing Air France for a total of $616,000 in damages.
Weizman sued for $386,000 and Miss Moreno for $230,000 according to papers filed in the Superior Court. They charged, in their suit, that Air France was negligent in not providing security measures which would have prevented the heavily-armed terrorists from boarding the plane at Athens Airport.
The lawsuit charged that the terrorists boarded the plane "without having their luggage, hand baggage or persons searched or searched properly and without the necessary care required under the circumstances." They declared the Entebbe ordeal caused them "severe physical and psychological damage."
Weizman said his sick mother, a resident of Israel he had planned to visit, took a turn for the worse when she learned about the hijacking and died three days later while he was still held hostage at Entebbe.
