The British Government cannot save from deportation Jews of German nationality who commit offenses in Palestine, Colonial Secretary William Ormsby-Gore told the House of Commons today. Replying to a question, the Colonial Secretary declared the British Government was bound by its League of Nations mandate to control immigration, and there had been a great deal of illegal immigration to Palestine. Twenty-six German Jews have been deported from Palestine during the four years since 1934, including 22 for contravention of immigration regulations, he reported.
