Capt. Lewis L. Strauss, prominent American Jewish leader who is now serving with the Navy, has been awarded the Legion of Merit “for outstanding services to the Government of the United States,” the Navy Department announced today.
Capt. Strauss is a special assistant to Secretary Forrestal. The citation accompanying the award said that “by his sound administrative ability, Captain Strauss has rendered valuable service to the Navy Department and to the country in the readjustment phase of the current war.”
