Captain Joseph Steinberg, veteran of the Spanish-Cuban war, died here this week at the age of 80. He was buried in the Jewish cemetery with military honors.
Born in Rumania, he came to the United States as a child with his parents who settled in Tampa, Florida. He financed the Cubans in Tampa in their campaign for Cuba’s independence and later fought in the war for the liberation of Cuba. He was the recipient of many decorations from the Cuban Government.
