“Palestine is developing very quietly and safely. One can feel that Lord Plumer has taken matters in hand and destroyed the political antagonistic atmosphere, Captain Alexander Aaronsohn, returning on the steamer Berengaria, from a trip to Palestine, declared in an interview with the representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
“Under the administration of Lord Plumer and under the conditions in Palestine at present, the genius of the Jew will find best means for redemption of our people and also for the harmonious cooperation with the other people of Palestine.
“The Druze war affected Palestine very little, due to Lord Plumer, who knew how to maintain the feeling of security in the country,” Captain Aaronsohn declared.
“I want to emphasize that I found in Palestine this time a spirit of greater determination, wiser understanding of things and deeper interest in the development of the land. Not only is Tel Aviv growing, but in all the Jewish agricultural colonies there is as great a growing spirit. Every colony I visited is progressing.”
Captain Aaronsohn stated that there is no unemployment now among the Jewish workers in Palestine.
Semion Yushkevitch, the well-known Russian Jewish writer, arrived on the same steamer. He came on the invitation of an American publishing company, which is negotiating with him for the publication of an English translation.
