Augustin Cardinal Bea, president of the Vatican’s Secretariat for Christian Unity, and one of the foremost Catholic Church proponents for closer Catholic Jewish relations, is about to resign from his post, the press here reported today. According to a Rome dispatch, Cardinal Bea, who is 82, will quit because of his health.
