The new Roumanian government of King Carol will not support anti-Semitism, declared King Carol yesterday in response to a question by the representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency for an assurance to American and world Jewry that the Jews of Roumania would be protected under his rule against anti-Semitic incitement and violence and the enjoyment of full rights as in all Western countries.

King Carol said that the Roumanian people are naturally tolerant but that unfortunately an anti-Semitic party existed but it was not countenanced by the government. He said he regards the minorities as Roumanians and true sons of the country within a common fatherland.

He joyfully recalled his reception from thousands of Roumanian Jews in the United States when he visited that country. King Carol said that the Roumanians in America continue to be attached to the mother country and he will always cherish affectionate memories of them.
