President-elect Jimmy Carter has thanked Israeli President Ephraim Katzir and Premier Yitzhak Rabin for their messages on his election to the Presidency and said they are “encouragement to me as I prepare to assume the Presidency.”
Carter used that phrase in both letters to the Israelis. To Katzir he also said, “You may be assured of my efforts to strengthen the ties of friendship between our two countries.” To Rabin he said, “I look forward to working with you to strengthen the ties of friendship between our two countries.” Copies of Carter’s messages were made available today to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. They were sent last week.
