President Carter is expected to sign shortly the compromise anti-boycott bill, generally barring American firms from complying with the Arab boycott against Israel, which was approved by the House Friday.

Differing versions of the measure, supported in principle by President Carter, were approved by the House and Senate, and the sent to a House-Senate conference. The conference version was approved Tuesday by the Senate by voice vote. The final approval in the House was 306-41. The anti-boycott provisions are part of a two-year extension of the Export Administration Act. With some exemptions, the boycott provisions ban American firms from refusing to do business with a firm blacklisted by the Arabs for trade with Israel.
