Such a history is expected to be published in the future. Codreanu’s views on Jews, socialists, communists and liberals are faithfully recorded in the biography, which glorifies his battles. In a letter to Sburlati, Prof. Horia Sima, a former Rumanian Foreign Minister who succeeded Codreanu as the leader of the Iron Guard, praises the biography and thanks the author. Iron Guard literature has also appeared in Madrid, Spain; Munich, West Germany; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and New York. The Rumanian fascist’s monthly in New York is called “Parunca Vremli.”

Today’s Cabinet meeting continued past nightfall as ministers debated budget cuts and heard reports on political matters. It was learned that contacts with the United States on an interim Suez settlement and Israel’s long-standing request for more Phantom jets would resume as soon as US Ambassador Walworth Barbour returns this week from an extended home leave.

Budgetary matters revolved around possible cuts in the Defense Ministry’s appropriations which are strongly opposed by the military. Some ministers have argued that outlays for civilian needs cannot be reduced in the fight against inflation unless the military is prepared to make some sacrifices. Moshe Zanbar, Governor-designate of the Bank of Israel urged Israel’s military industries to start producing consumer items so that the switchover to peacetime production will be easier once the Middle East conflict is solved.
